Description
Sensor for measuring the distance to an object using ultrasound. After the ultrasonic signal has been sent, the timing starts and the sensor waits for the sound signal to return., which bounces off the obstacle. As soon as the signal returns, the report stops and the distance to the object can be determined by the duration of the delay.
Dolphins use the same principle., whales and bats. Sonars on ships also work in much the same way., and on my blog you can find an interesting article about this Moving sonar on Arduino.
Characteristics of HC-SR04 Distance Sensor
- Nutrition: 5 IN
- Current consumption in passive mode: 2 mA
- Current consumption in active mode: 15 mA
- Distance measuring range: 2-400cm
- Viewing angle: 15°-30°
Pinout
- Vcc - positive power pin.
- GND - negative power pin.
- Trig - digital input. To start the measurement, we apply a logical unit to it for 10 mx.
- echo - digital output. After measurement, it is supplied with a logical unit for a while, spent on the signal path to the object and back.
