Description

For accurate temperature readings, nothing beats a platinum RTD. Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTDs) are temperature sensors, which contain a resistor, which changes the resistance value as the temperature changes, basically a kind of thermistor. In this sensor, the resistor is actually a small strip of platinum with a resistance 100 Om at 0 °C, thus, name PT100. Compared to most NTC / PTC thermistors, PT Type RTD is much more stable and accurate (but also more expensive) PT100's has been used for many years for temperature measurement in laboratory and industrial technology and has a reputation for accuracy (better, than thermocouples), repeatability and stability.

Nevertheless, to get this precision and accuracy from your RTD PT100, you must use an amplifier, which is for low resistance reading. Better yet, have an amplifier, which can automatically adjust and compensate the resistance of the connecting wires.
